Legal Question in Education Law in North Carolina

teacher attempts to tie child to chair

The librarian attempted to tie my son to a chair at school because he would not sit in the chair the way she wanted him to. She picked him up and threw him in the chair and then attemped to tie him up with rope, when he resisted and got up to get away she yanked him by the arm and drug him down the hall to the office, he is 7 years old. Do I just let the school system handle this or do I contact an attorney?

Re: teacher attempts to tie child to chair

Contact a personal injury attorney immediately. It would be unlawful and probably felonious restraint to tie a child to a chair. What happens if there is a fire? This teacher should lose her license and she should be prosecuted. You should contact the prosecuting attorney's office immediately and make a full police report regarding the assualt.

Good luck,
