Legal Question in Elder Law in North Carolina

i have my 82 year old mother, who has dementicia, living with me. there is no legal papers to give me power of anything. am i responsible for her or any bills she may occur

If she has no powers of attorney, she likely needs a guardian for the person and perhaps for her property, too, depending on her assets and how they are titled. Her social security can be managed through the representative payee process with the Social Security. If she ever needs Medicaid, she will need a guardian to apply if she is not capable of doing so herself and has no power of attorney in place.
