Name change without divorce

need a divorce due to husband going to jail but it hasn't been a year of seperation & i want to change my last name back to maiden name can i do this. also i have been advised to run and add in paper to make known i would not be responsible for his debt, how long does this need to run?

yes you can change your name, and the debt thing is a little more complicated that just running an ad in a newspaper. I would consult an attorney to help you with both
