Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

Child Custody

My son, who lives in NC, has been a wonderful and devoted father to my 7 yr old grndson. He and his ex never married, have no court ordered custody order, but have a support order. A week ago his ex informed him she had married and she, my grandson and her new husband were moving to Las Vegas, as they spoke. She said she didn't tell my son because ''he might get mad''! She has taken him from relatives, school, friends and everything he's known in his life. She now will not answer my son's calls, would not give her new name and address, and refuses to let him talk to my grandson, because ''it will upset him even more than he already is''. Should my son contact the local authorities in NC? He plans to petition the courts for temp custody, but he's devastated because he can't speak to his son. He has contacted her family, in NC, and they will not cooperate in helping him. We don't have a lot of money, as her family is wealthy, but we will do whatever is financially necessary to get that little boy back where he belongs.

Re: Child Custody

He could start by going to the court that issued the support order and seeking custody of his son. The support payments have to be going somewhere.
