Is child support in NC used to help pay for extracurricular activities, extra medical/dental procedures/ travel expenses?

Depends. It can be used for virtually anything since the person paying the child support has no input, say or control over how the child support is used. It sucks that that is the way it is but that is in fact the way it is.
