Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina
child support
I know someone sho gave guardianship of her 3 kids to her mom 17 years ago so she could go into the military, throughout the years she has wanted the kids back, but the mom was on welfare and disabled so she needed the welfare checks,do the daughter said she could keep getting the money fromthe state, but she wanted the kids, the kids decided that they did not want to come withthe mom because she was a strict disciplinarian, with the grandma they could basically do whatever they wanted. the mom has papers to be served soon for her to appear in court to start a child support order to pay the city back for all the welfare payments the grandmother received. i might add that for the past 15 years the grandma had been working an under the table job as a chef cook.what can the daughter do to stop this from happening to her? Over the years she has taken care of the girls financially. whay are her legal rights? she wants to go to the courts to have guardianship returned to her.

Re: child support
She will need to prove that she did provide financial support to her mother and that her mother was not entitled to benefits because she was working, albeit for cash.
