child support

i am being sued for child support. i have never seen the child or been allowed to. i was told he had died. he is 17 years old. i am unemployed due to heart bypass surgery and severe diabetes. what can i do and do i have any options. i was named as father on the birth certificate, but the child does not have my last name.

Re: child support

Visitation and child support obligation is entirely

separate question. It always seems unfair, but

judges state the child support

is the child's right, whether visits go well or not.

If you can show that you are unable to

work, you should have a case

that you cannot pay support, unless you are

getting some sort of retirement or other

income. Generally, if you collect social security they

will try to take support from SSA portion

but not SSI.

If case has not been established, you can ask for

paternity testing.
