Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina
Are there any divorce lawyers who practice in both NC and GA?

I am admitted in both GA and NC, but don't go to court in either jurisdiction. What all do you need and why in both places?
Divorce can be granted in either place as long as one of you have lived in the place where you are filing for 6 months or more and meet the qualifications - in NC, that is one year of separation. GA has no separation period but once you file the divorce complaint, there is a 90 day waiting period.
Equitable distribution of ytour marital property can only occur where the house or other property is located. Each state has different rules about this - for example, in NC you can bring an action to divide up your marital property at any time after you separate and before the divorce decree is entered. So wherever the cars or land is located is where the equitable distribution should occur. It may make sense to do the divorce in the same place.
Child custody/child support can only be brought where the child has lived for the last 6 months.
