Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina
Equitable Distribution
My Equitable Distribution hearing was in January 2003. My lawyer completed the QDRO for my employer, UPS, for the distribution to be made to my ex-spouse. UPS asked for some clarification and amendments of the order before they could complete the distribution. My attorney has been paid in full and has not met the requirements of the UPS legal team. How can I encourage the lawyer to finish the job? I have made repeated attempts to contact him with no response. In a letter, I offered to pay him for the modification, but still no response. What are my options?

Re: Equitable Distribution
Is your attorney under the impression that the job is complete? Have you received a final letter from him? Is he supposed to do the amendment for UPS? You could write and call your attorney and politely inform him that you may have no choice but to contact the NC State Bar about his non-responsiveness to this issue. If you are interested in obtaining access to legal advice for this and any other issues that may arise without the need to pay out big bucks first, please e-mail me and I will send the info out to you.
Either way, I wish you good luck.
