Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

Establishing Paternity and Support

I have recently given birth to a child who's father I was not married to. He lives in another state than we do and I need to know what I have to do to establish paternity and have child support set by the court. Also, do I file in our state, where the child was conceived, or the state in which he lives?

Re: Establishing Paternity and Support

Call MS Dept. of Health and Human Services at 359-4500. Tell them your situation and they (and the child support enforcement division) should help you. If not contact an attorney who can set up the blood test and guide you through.
