Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

My ex-wife is going to try to get more child support out of me, even though our 2 children don't live with her. they live with her mother because i work alot and she is bi-polar. i pay her mother not her. i recently bought a new house and because i won't get back together with her, she is now trying this. i see my kids a couple times a week. i could easily take the kids, but i haven't because that would just her their grand mother, because they have been living with her for 6 yrs.

What is your question? Is there an existing child support order? What are the age of your children? it does not matter that you bought a new house. The question is what is yours and the mother's combined gross monthly income? If the mother does not work because of her disability, she may not be required to pay very much. You do not tell me how much you earn so I cannot determine whether the grandmother will be entitled to an increase in child support.

Information regarding NC child support (I am assuming the children are in NC) is found at:

https://nddhacts01.dhhs.state.nc.us/home.jsp?TargetScreen=WorkSheet.jsp. Worksheets are there. If you spend more than 123 overnights with the children, use worksheet B; otherwise use worksheet A. The worksheets will do the calculations for you if you input the data. You will then have an idea of whether the mother will succeed or not.
