1 Answer from Attorneys

Well first you need to hire an attorney - without one you are likely wasting your time assuming you can even figure out how to get the ball rolling. Even with an attorney and without knowing most of the facts of your case, you will likely have an up hill battle. Here's why: the other side is going to paint you as a disinterested, uninvolved mom and argue that you clearly didn't care because you haven't done anything about this for around 7 years. So you are going to have to come up with something way better than 'he wont let me'. It is possible that if you hire an attorney, this can be resolved through some sort of an agreement rather than going to Court but if it ends up going to Court, your biggest hurdle is likely going to be convincing the Court that dad has been a real jerk and purposely kept the child from you for no good reason. Best of luck!
