I have finished paying all my child support. Can my ex attorney come after me for legal expenses? What if I refuse to pay? They live in Florida, I live in North Carolina.

I need to know, not where you live, but where the child support orderr and any divorce proceedings occurred. IN NC, counsel fees can be recovered in child support, alimony/spousal support and equitable distribution proceedings. See NC Gen. Stat. 50-13.6, 0-16.4 and 50-21. You can look up these statutes free of charge at www.ncga.state.nc.us.

Generally, if counself fees were not ordered as part of the above actions and if you have paid all your child support and the support order is now terminated, then you should not sworry. However, if the order was entered in Florida or elsewhere, you may need to confirm this by speaking to an attorney in that state.
