Re: Husband in prison
The procedure would be the same as any other divorce. Prison could be a ground for the divorce or one of several other grounds. He would just be served by the local Sheriff's office. I can help you if you want to move forward. Please call my office for an appointment. If you mention LawGuru the first meeting is free.

Easy. it is easy! which is to say it is pretty compared to other divorce situations.
There is still a lot to talk about, any kids? anything in bank accounts with his name on them? automobiles? and there are several other important things to get a lawyer's help with.
You really need to get some assistance from an attorney. I suggest you find an experienced divorce attorney (this is a divorce type problem) who is not too far from you, and ask the attorney for assistance. You will have to pay the attorney for the attorney's efforts.
There is a lot at stake. Get a lawyer!

Not hard at all. Heck, I have divorces where we can't even find the person. It may be a lot easier as Mr. Davies had indicated. I suggest you see an attorney.

Re: Husband in prison
Where were you and your husband married?
In New Jersey incarceration is a ground for divorce.
I am not sure about North Carolina law, but since you are a resident of New Jersey you can file for divorce in New Jersey and list incarceration as the reason why you are seeking a divorce.
