Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

My husband is a verbally & physically abusive alcoholic - we have 2 children - 7 & 11 and the 7 yr old is severely autistic - I could leave but it would be very hard for my younger son since our current house has already safety proofed for him and we have a fence - he is just very secure at our home - we both work but I make double his salary - he did receive an inheritiance (and should be getting more soon) but he is very rapidly going through the money. He will not leave - I have called the police once when my older son was gone but he was not arrested - he did hit me last night and knock me down and broke several expensive items of mine but when I threaten to call police he involves my older son involved becasue he knows he will g to jail and gets him crying and begging me not to call - I just want him gone - what should I do?

You already know what to do - you just need to find the strength and courage to do it. Swear out a warrant for domestic assault and seek a protective order then go to see a family law attorney.
