Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

Jurisdiction

my case was held in Illinois,(child custody) but i have been told that my case has to be transfered to North Carolina because my son was born in North Carolina and Illinois does not have jurisdiction. He has been living in Illinois for 5 years prior to going back to North Carolina 6 months ago. is this true? do i have to transfer the case to North Carolina. who has jusridiction and who does not.

Although I am not well versed in the statutes applicable to either Illinois or North Carolina, your question will require several details for it to be properly answered. These details must include whether any proceeding had been previously commenced in NC, with whom had the child been living in Illinois, who took him back to NC, why was he taken back, and did this person have your permission.
