Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

i live in north carolina..children are in kansas..can i get an attorney here or does it have to be in kansas

Depends on what you are trying to do. We are lawyers not mind readers. However, for most legal actions involving children, you will need to file your action where jurisdiction is proper. Generally speaking, that will be where ever the kids have consistently resided for at least the immediate 6 months prior to filing an action. It could turn out you need an attorney in Kansas or it could turn out you need an attorney in NC. Or possibly, you may need attorney's in both states. You would need to provide us with information on where the children have been living and what you are trying to accomplish for us to better answer this question.
