Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina
if the mother of a child doesnt know who the father is but told him before that she got an abortion can she force him legally to pay child support 2 years later with him not knowing he had a child until that point?

Yes. The mother can sue the father or putative father at any time for child support up until the child's 18th birthday. The mother can seek retroactive support for the past 3 years but must prove what the costs of child-rearing was for this period. Support from the time of filing the petition forward will be based on the NC support guidelines. The father can always dispute paternity and request a blood test. Once that is done, a child support order will be put in place if the blood tests confirm paternity of the child.
I suggest that you seek out a family lawyer for help. If that is not feasible, then you can go to the child support enforcement office for the county where you and the child reside. You can find the information for your county at www.ncchildsupport.com.
