Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

I am from North carolina. I will be 18 in 3 weeks. I have a 1 month old son. I am living with my boyfriend and his mother. My parents are okay with it untill they deside they want me home or need something around the house done. They say if I do not come they will "make" me by having me picked up or calling the police. My question is being a mother am I considered an adult or do I have to go home with them when they say.

You will be an adult when you turn 18.

Having a child out of wedlock while you are a minor certainly does not make you an adult.
