overseas divorce
a friend is overseas with military. separated from his wife for 2 years. she is in N. Carolina. They were married in New York. In what state does he file and is it possible to file while stationed in Italy? They own the home which she lives in, in N. Carolina.

The law of WHERE to file a divorce petition differs from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. You are going to need to get opinions from NC and NY counsel, and perhaps even counsel in Italy. Nothing in your facts mentions Mass or Conn, so a divorce petition could not be filed in either of those juridictions.
