We hear these lame poor mouth excuses all the time but the reality is - you can't afford NOT to hire an attorney! If she spanks you with a significant increase, you will likely be paying far more than an attorney fee. The key is to shop around and find an attorney that you are comfortable with that quotes you a reasonable / affordable fee. In NC child support is set by guidelines based on your incomes and there isn't much wiggle room in most cases - so you don't need F. Lee Bailey to represent you, just someone to look out for your interest and make sure the calculations are being done properly. Best of luck to you!
