Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

I recently did a modification for child support with child support enforcment in NC. When the case worker did the worksheet she got a new amount and proposed it to the non custodial parent. He refused to make the change and pay it. Now we have a court date set. Do I need to get a lawyer? And what can I expect in Child support court?

NC Child Suport is slow and typical of any government run organization but for the most part competent to calculate a proper child support amount and have it enforced through the Court.
