Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

Registering a foreign (TX) order in NC

I am the custodial parent of 10 year old boy. My divorce and custody order was handled in TX. My ex wife lives in NC. She is refusing to return the child to TX at the end of her summer visitation as court ordered. I was told by the sheriff department that I would have to come down and register my order and fill out an order allowing or denying expedited enforcemnt of a foregin child custody order. The officer stated once this is done and see the judge he can order them to assist me in getting my child back. Is this true? Would I be able to handle all of this in one day?
