What rights are you relinquishing if the child is an adult? Is the child handicapped or disabled? Does someone else wish to adopt the adult child? If so, then in that case you can give up your rights by signing a consent form and this will pave the way for the other adult to adopt. Otherwise, what you state is not possible. If you wish not to have anything to do with child or any grandchildren that is your choice. Make a will or trust and specifically disinherit that child and all of their issue so that neither the child nor his/her children can ever inherit anything from your estate. Beyond that, I can't see what other rights the child would have other than maybe, if they were handicapped, but even then, an adut disabled child would get some kind of government benefits.
