Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina
My sister
My parents are divorced, and I have recently moved out of the home of my father (the selected primary caregiver). I decided to go and live with my mother. There has been much dispute between my father (who is now remarried) and my mother, and because of all that, my father saw fit to cut me off completely from communication between my real sister and my step brother. They are forbidden to speak to me simply because I live with my mother. Recently, a member of our family died (on my mothers side) and my father would not allow my sister to attend the funeral. Not only that, but he would also not let me speak to my sister so I could update her on the funeral and also see how she was doing. I called the house multiple times, only to be greeted by an answering machine. I called my step mothers cell phone and received the same outcome. Even after three days, and multiple messages with me begging to talk to my sister, they still refuse. My question is whether or not I have any right to speak with my sister? Can I do anything in a court of law to force them to let me talk to her? They also forbid my mother from talking to my sister. Can anything be done legally about that? Thank you.

Re: My sister
Your mother needs to go to court and ask for visitation with her child. At that time the communications issues concerning you and your sister and half-brother can be addressed.
