Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

In the state of North Carolina, if I'm 16 years old would i legally be able to date (hug, kiss, hold hands, ect.) a person that is 22? If not what is the legal amount of years that a minor could date over 18?

I am not sure what you are asking. At age 18, you are an adult and can do whatever you want. I assume you are referring to the rape and statutory rape statutes. For statutory rape, you have to be between 13 and 15 and he has to be 6 years older. If he is more than 4 years older but less than 6, its a lower grade felony. Its not statutory rape if you are over 16 and consent. Kissing and hugging is not the problem - its intercourse. And if you have to ask then you ought not be doing it until you are ready.
