I was wondering if I decide to leave my sons father due to abuse which has stopped now except for the yelling and name calling do I still need his permission to take my son on a trip to canada?

You should enter into a parenting agreement with your child's father with the help of a competent family attorney. You should prepare to file a child custody action if you do not agree. There are several options available for people in abusive relationships. Abuse takes many forms and does not have to be physical. Do what is best for you and your child.
