Legal Question in Civil Litigation in North Carolina

In May 2009 we noticed a serice water leak downstairs from our upstairs bathroom. We found we had a serious black mold problem so we contacted insurance company to get an adjuster and we hired a mold remediation company to take care of the mold and reconstruction. We gave them a $5k retainer fee and was told the job would only take 1-1.5 months starting in July 2009. The last day they came in was in August 2009 and still have tons of work to do and actually they had refused to get building permits to do the work involving plumbing and electrical after the city inspectors told them to do so. We have called them a million times and they would always say they would be back but never show up. Found out through our own home inspector that some of the work they did has to be redone as well which is going to cost a ton for us. They gave us excuses all of the time saying they have 2 fire damage homes to do and 2 water damage homes and we are next, which in fact, we were first. We gave them an additional $13,000 from our insurance check for them to finish the work and they gave us back $3900 of the retainer fee back in which they promised they would give back the whole 5,000 to us. Jan 2010 came and they knew we were moving and renting the house in Feb and they said they would have the work done by Feb 10th. Well, on Feb 10th they still never had the work done and we were out of over $800 just to let the renters move in from work they were to do. I filed a complaint with the BBB and got hate text messages calling us "poor white trash" threats to sue us and so forth when they actually told me they quit and will never come back over. Now, they have filed a mechanics lien on our home in the amount of $29,900 which is bogus because one, they told our insurance company it was only a $28,000 fix and tehy told the BBB we owe they $20,000. We also found out that they are licensed to do mold remediation and removal but not construction and yet still refuse to get permits or inspections done properly. What do we do? Not only did they breach the contract, but they harrassed us (i told him to not contact me again and he has), descrimination, slander, and so forth plus we have yet another $10,000 in so worth of work that has to be redone. What do you all think we should do?
