If you have record of being hit, can u sue at a later time?

If you are speaking of a vehicle accident, it is best that you notify the other party's insurance company to give them notice of the accident. You may not need to sue later if they will work with you. It is also best not not wait because evidence of your damages may be questionable if you wait too late. You have 3 years from the date of the accident to file a lawsuit.
If you were physically hit, you should call the police immediately because the physical evidence will be gone if you wait to file charges.
