Legal Question in Civil Litigation in North Carolina

I was verbally promised a 5% stake in my company that would be vested at 5 years. This stake was always brought up in lieu of raises. I was let go after 8 1/2 years and told nothing would come of stake. Do I have grounds to sue for what was promised?

Yes, but you will have to prove these promises. As raises are not a requirement, you will have to have some evidence of this promise of 5% when they claim the promise was never made.

Sure if you can prove that the verbal 'promise' amounted to an enforceable contract. That's likely not gonna happen though but possibly worth consulting with a local attorney just to be sure.
