Re: deportation

Absolutely. Drug trafficking can be considered an aggravated felony for immigration purposes. This can lead to deportation and preclusion from relief. Drug possession is also a deportable offense, but relief can be obtained and the foreign national can sometimes remain in the U.S. In either case, a conviction for a drug offense usually leades to mandatory detention (no bond) during deportation proceedings.
