Legal Question in Immigration Law in North Carolina

I'm an international student who just finished the OPT. My friend came in this country with a green card and we would like to get married. You can I expect to get my green card? Can I travel out of the country after I filed for the document?

You should not travel outside of the country while your application is pending with an Advanced Parole. I would suggest that you consult with an immigration lawyer, however, before you file any application.

You can receive a greencard through your friend if you two become married. You may also apply for a travel document/advanced parole so that you may have permission to legally enter the US should you decide to leave. Keep in mind, however, that CBP (Customs and Border Patrol) does not have to honor the documents and grant you permission to enter to the country upon your return. You will be taking a huge gamble if you leave and may be kept out of the country until your greencard is approved and you complete consular processing. Hi,

Marriage with a green card holder is in the 2nd family preference category (F2A) www.h1b1.com/sponsor.htm

Your spouse will file the immigrant petition. When the priority date is current, adjustment of status along with advance parole document applications can be filed allowing you to remain legally in the U.S. as well as to travel.
