Legal Question in Employment Law in North Carolina
Employment Termination
I was fired from my job on Feb 1, 2007 for not being a good leader. However, 5 days prior I received a merit raise and a note from my director stating I was a wonderful leader. I am exploring whether or not I have any recourse in this matter.

Re: Employment Termination
Absent a contract, employment is generally "at will," and you can be fired for any reason or no reason (with very few exceptions). There is no general legal right to continued employment, and conversely, an employee can quit at any time. You do not state sufficient facts to conclude you may be outside that general rule.
Re: Employment Termination
There is always a chance that you do. Your best course of action will be to arrange for a consultation with a labor and employment attorney in the state in which you work. That individual will get adequate information from you to determine what your options are.
