I am an employee of the dept. of correction,I know that at any time I enter into the prisons that I work at they can ask to look into my tool bag,ask me to empty my pockets and search my work truck. My question is can they (correctional staff)''pat me down''?

Yes, they can. If that is part of the requirement for working there, and it's obviously to keep the place secure, it is ok.
