Legal Question in Employment Law in North Carolina
worked on my job for 27 years.Have cancer now and my treatment is 8 weeks long thats over and now I have recovery for 4 weeks.My 8 weeks of sick time is over,so i am taking 4 week of leave without pay.My employer calls me today and says that i have to get cobra insurance because i am no longer employed but that I still have a job when I get back.What to do????

Does FMLA apply to you and your company? If so, you get 12 weeks of sick leave per year. Ask your employer about Family and Medical Leave Act benefits. Larger companies must provide that by federal law. If they say they do not have to provide it, then contact an employment lawyer for more advice.
