Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in North Carolina

Need advice on a Sumlord Asap! Our landlord will NOT fix anything (ie. Mold, Floors about to break, making the kitchen dangerous for everyone, the refrigerator as fell on me already, the foundation is cracking, the roof leaks creating the mold, etc.) We have been telling the landlord all the issues, yet there is has been noone to fix anything since moving in. We have decided to withhold the rent until he does fix it, but that is not working either. We do not have money to move or to pay security depoist for a new place. What can we do?

DO NOT withhold rent. You can be evicted and would have no defense. You need to call the city inspector to have them for the landlord to make repairs. From there you can sue in small claims court to see if you can get a partial refund of rent paid while the defects existed...but PAY rent immediately
