Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in North Carolina

If we break our lease and we don't pay the rent until the unit is re-rented what can happen?

Also, how long does a landlord have up re-rent the unit when a lease is broken? Everything I've read says 'a time manor' well what is a timely manner?

If you break the lease, you are liable for the rent until the end of the lease or until the unit is re-rented. So, he could sue for what damages he can approve.

As for "timely manner," its not defined. A timely manner, means that the landlord needs to re-rent the unit based on his normal methods of renting. He doesn't have to do anything above and beyond to rent the unit but also cannot steer people away from it.

The determination as to what is timely is a case by case decision.
