Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in North Carolina
Contract Law
The landlord, a non-professional person, wrote a contract for renting his home to me, plus a contract for rent to buy the house in question. His ending date on the contract is the same as the starting date. I did not realize this until 2 or 3 weeks ago. Does this nullify the contract? Is there penalty against him that can be raised for saying I am delinquent in rent payment, or trying to enforce something like access denial until rent is paid.
He was quite reluctant to give me a copy of the contract when this affair first began, 11 months ago. He does ahve a BA in Business Management, but no experience with it.

I would need to see the contract to advise you. I have 25 years of experience as a landlord and attorney.
