Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in North Carolina
I am in a dispute with my former apartment.... I disagree with charges associated with my move out... Also, I didn't know about these charges until I was contacted by a collection agency. The apartment sent the itemized statement to the wrong address and I never received the calls and emails that they claim they sent....
I didn't pay a security deposit and am wanting to know the best way to fight this legally?

You should contact the debt collector and demand proof of what is being alleged. You could sue to get a declaratory judgment to have a judge say you don't owe the allged damages..but unless you have evidence of how you left the home, such as pictures, it will be difficult to win and will be costly. If they have not taken money from you, you might just want to let it be.
