Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in North Carolina

I leased a student apartment for a year but i was evicted before my lease was up. I only lived in the apartment from august2012-November2012. I payed my august rent before I moved in but i made arrangements with my landlord to pay the rest of my rent with my financial aid check. Since I was evicted beofor I got my financial aid check I never paid my land lord. Now he is taking me to court. What do I do now?

If you never paid the rent, the landlord can sue you for the time you had the apartment up until you were evicted.
