Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in North Carolina
I live with a man on a month to month basis. He is on the lease and i have not signed a rental agreement. I have been living with him for 2 months. He has not provided me with a key and locked me out of the house today with my belongings still inside. In fact he went as far as placing a board in front of the door to assure i could not get in. Is this legal?

No its not legal but this is a very dangerous living situation in that you need to prove that you live there somehow. You should call the police to see if they will assist you with gaining re-entry. Otherwise, you will need to sue to get your items back.
