I live in Shelby North Carolina in a duplex apartment, my landlord is selling her property and my lease is not up until June 2014, I am on a fixed income I have no money to move and no transportation to move things, I know that there is an Ellis act law in some states, does it apply in North Carolina, what are my rights if i don't want to move, and there is no reason for eviction

Much depends on your lease.

First, the buyer of rental property much honor a lease. So if you are renting the home and have say 8 months left on your lease, the buyer has to honor it or compensate you to terminate the lease.

Now, if you are month to month as the lease term ended or there was never a long lease term, then the buyer can ask you to leave with proper notice. For a month to month, its 7 days, for a longer term lease it is 30 days notice.

Reason to evict is not necessary if proper notice is given and the lease term has ended.
