Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in North Carolina

Privacy from on-premises landlord

I rent a room in a large house. My landlord lives downstairs. He prowls through my room, daily, when I am not there, and often comes to my room, interrupting me, when I am there. How often, and under what circumstances does he have a legal right to enter my room, especially when I am not there? (There is no lock on my door.) Also, he constantly badgers me with semi-demanding ''requests'' to completely rearrange the furniture, etc. Do I have a right to be left alone, in my room, uninterrupted by the landlord? When and how often can he enter my room?

Re: Privacy from on-premises landlord

DO you have a written lease?

If not the law is spongy on rooms within a house, but at a minimum you have a right to reasonable notice prior to his entry. GET A LOCK!! Call or write for further legal assistance.
