Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in North Carolina
Problem with landlord
I live at a apartment in Charlotte. A friend of mine was ''banned'' from the property for no reason. This person lived here at the apt before but didnt get a long with his roomate, so he got off the lease. HE did NOT get evicted! The daughter of the property owner said she didnt know the reason but was doing what she was told. He has never caused problems. He comes here often to babysit my son and dog sit.
After this, an arguement ensued between the daughter and my roomate...words were exchanged and things were said that were hurtful and my roomate got upset and started to go after the daughter. We had to hold her back. We left and came back to get some things to stay at another place for the night, and the daughter called the police even though my banned friend was on the public sidewalk. I was told that I need to find another place to live...no reason given. I do admit that I was upset and did say some names.
Do they have legal recourse? Can they just ''ban'' anyone for any reason? Also, can they throw me out for really nothing? Thanks

Re: Problem with landlord
I would need to see your lease before I could answer. Those terms apply, as well as state law.
Have you paid your rent on time and observed other obligations of the lease?
