Re: security deposit

if what you are saying is correct, and if you did not damage the apartment nor leave a mess behind, then the landlord was required by law to hand you back your security deposit PLUS the interest earned on it. if there was some good reason for not giving it back, then you may not be entitled to all of it or maybe not even any of it, i do not know.

i suggest that you go see a lawyer, and get some advice. you will probably have the lawyer yell at your landlord (a nasty lawyer letter), and then file suit. I have done a total of one such lawsuit which i needed to take all the way to a court judgment. it was not fun. the judge came up with every excuse he could think of to NOT punish the landlord. i did get back my client's money, but the law says that a thieving landlord like this has to pay extra (double the amount stolen). that lousy judge is no longer handling this type of matter.
