Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in North Carolina

Our townhome leasing agency forgot to include a pet fee on our lease 10 months ago. We didn't even realize it until they brought it to our attention in May, when they admitted they made a mistake and told us not to worry about it. Last night we received a note telling us to pay all the money back by tomorrow or they would no longer accept any rent payments from us, which I assume would lead to eviction. We have the signed contract, but they say that doesn't matter. What can we do?

Keep following your lease. If they didn't include the fee, they are out of luck.

Just know that when your lease is up, expect to have to pay it for the next lease or be prepared for them not to do a new lease.
