Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in North Carolina

Veterans Hospital Malpractice

My husband was recently diagnosed with cancer and was told that it was discovered 7 months prior and he wasn't informed of the findings. Another Dr. caught the mistake when he was being x-rayed for something else. How long should a person wait to start legal action, and/ or should we wait to see what the outcome, with treatment,etc. It is already spreading to another area and I truly feel he should of started treatment 7 months ago. I would appreciate any information you could give me on this matter. Thank-you

The first step is to consult with a doctor or doctors who can tell you whether the standard of care has been breached and what, if any, damages have resulted.
