Legal Question in Military Law in North Carolina
Court Martial
I have just learned my son was court-martialed in July and sentenced to two years in the brig at Camp Lejuene. I would like to know if it is too late to hire an outside attorney to investigate and see if an appeal is possible.

Re: Court Martial
It is not too late to file an appeal; under the Unform Code of Military Justice, your son is entitled to one based on his sentence, however, it can take several months to get a military lawyer appointed.
Your son has a right to be represented by private counsel if he, or you, retain counsel. If you wish to discuss the particulars of his case, please feel free to contact me. There is no fee for an initial consultation.
