Legal Question in Military Law in North Carolina

Military discharge

I have been in the army roughly a year and i've been injured since week 4 of basic training with shin splints which turned into a grade 4 stress fracture( the worst kind) when I continued to run on it. And now I am on a lower body profile which excludes me from participating in lower body PT. This injury will take a year or more to heal, my legs are just not made for long distance running and and I want out of the service because i don't have a future in here. Is there anything i can do?

Re: Military discharge

The key to medical boards is to convince a treating provider (military doc) that you are not fit to continue. I have concluded that this is not always an easy task, as military medical providers often side with the needs of the service over the best interests of the individual. However, I have had success bringing pressure on the military to initiate the medical board process when, as in your case, everything seems to indicate that your ability to get back to 100% is iffy. Feel free to call or write to further discuss your situation.
