Am I allowed to get copies of police photos from the scene of an accident in which my son was killed?

Whether you can get these will depend on a few factors. I typically regard such photos as subject to "public records" laws. In many cases, however, local law enforcement will take the position that there is a pending investigation and for that reason they will not turn them over. In response to a subpoena, however, they will normally produce the photos, and I have done that in the past.
